Arrived

(Wrote that on flight)
Only two hours to go... I am feeling a bit inconveniant due to a cold, but for the rest fine.

I am very confident with the sirvice of the airlines and the kindness of the personal. First you have to know that this was my first flight. So I had no clear image of what to do in which prder at the airport.

In Düsseldorf I just went to the information desk. Due to my online check they sent me directly to the drop off. The lady at the drop off station was very kind and checked me in for my second flight from Vienna to Taipei. In Vienna I just walked to the other gate and directly into the plane. Now on the second flight I asked if I can get an emergency seat. I had luck and got a place for humans with long legs in economy class. The meals are of good quality concerning the circumstances. The flight personal is very kind and polite (I know it's their Job to do so) let me give you am example: I asked if they have a power outlet with USB-port to charge my mobile. Due to the missing power outlet and the USB-port the stewardess gave me her own mobile battery charger.

First days

The first day I arrived was very challangeing. I discovered the real vlaue of air conditioning. The weather in Taiwan is really weired. The humid air doubles the effect of 30 degrees and makes you feel like you are in a sauna.
So I arrived in Taiwan at about 6 in the morning alreday tired. Ich went outside and the furst feeling was like a punch in your face, due to the humid weather outside and the (what we would call) "normal" air in the airport. My glasses fogged immediately. Concluding my first experience with taiwan weather was like "WOW, I didn't expect that"
This impression is the most thing I thought within the last days. Nothing is like I imagined it but I am amazed by Taiwan and the people here. I feel welcome.

I started vloging so check out my Youtube channel:

About my last days in Asia

The last part of my journey through Asia Penang Again. The sticky and humid air surrounds me and gives me the feeling of being back “home” in Taiwan. But yet different, because now I am in Penang, where I never would have been without a friend of mine, Micha. He went there for one year and told me some nice stories about the people, food and especially the church he worked in. He made me so curious that I booked the flight from Tokyo.  You may ask yourself why I decided to fly such a complicated route. Geographically it makes no sense, but this route is simply the cheapest one. So I landed in Penang and took a bus to Georgetown, the world heritage part of Penang. One difference I recognized immediately was that this country is a Muslim country. The women were wearing headscarves and it was the first time I saw mosques in Asia. On my first day I explored Georgetown and all the beautiful old buildings. The hostel I stayed in was close to a district called “Little ...

Long time no see!

Arriving in Tokyo was a two parted experience. My first thought when I left the airplane was: It's so cold!  And yes, I felt the 30 degree drop from Phillipines to Tokyo.  The cold air soaked me in as soon as I left the airplane. The second thought was: I am going to meet a good friend soon! Ruben and I are friends since we met in school. He decided to go to Tokyo for one year and I decided to go to Taiwan, so the decision was easy to visit Tokyo. The city itself is a very busy, modern, weird, full, vibrant and traditional place at the same time. Nothing like Taipei or Manila. The buildings are large around the touristic parts but get lower as soon as you leave them. I immediately felt lost in the urban jungle. It was freezing in that time and although I got sick we went out every day to see the all the different facettes that Tokyo offers. Another thing you should consider if you are going to visit Tokyo, is that it is super expensive. I spent the mo...
