Giving a lecture as a nineteen year old?

Tamsui University Last Wednesday Allan and I were invited to give a lecture at Tamkang University in Tamsui. The students study business and tourism. Therefore we were invited to talk about Topology Travel. My task was to tell the students about my internship and the true feelings while working. I introduced my work and shared some experience I made during my time in Taiwan. The students had a lot of questions and I had a lot of time to answer them all and gave a small view insight into my life and feelings. I had a lot of fun doing this and was instantly thinking of my dad who is teacher. To share knowledge and experience with others can be very nice. But I also can imagine the part, which is not so nice: Students don’t listen, are loud, making fun of something and interrupt the class. Actually I was one of these students before I joined the commercial high school. I don’t know why I did this. Maybe I didn’t want to take responsibility for the things I did and thought about it.

Why capoeira changed my life and what I experienced the last weeks!

Capoeira Sports. One of the best things to clear your mind. For me, Capoeira is the best mix of coordination, fighting, thinking and music. Caporeira is not only a material art. It is a lifestyle. Within the past years I really felt how Capoeira changed my life. The sport gave me a focus for my energy and passion. It improved my way of thinking. Mestre Sorriso taught me how to see the things from another point of view and improved my understanding for other cultures. I learned to love the Brazilian way of thinking and doing: Think less and do the things from your heart. Apart from that change of my personality, Capoeira changed the feeling of my body. Of course you get in shape but I earned more. I earned control, balance, anticipation and there is still much more to learn. For almost four years I practice now. I had to stop several times. A broken leg, a torn ligament, pulled muscles, sprains and other small injuries. But I always continued. I couldn't stop doing this. And fi

How I do my blog

Technical stuff Within the first six weeks I didn’t changed much. I used the Blogger editor on the Internet and wasn’t really thinking about what to write. I just let go. For my Photos I used my iPad mini. But I bought a new mobile phone here with a better camera, so I am using that now. Only for panorama pictures I use the iPad, because iOS offers the best option for that. I make a choice of the best photos and upload them to Google drive. From there I download the photos on my laptop to insert the pictures more easily. I never got into HTML deeply so I am not really able to use a really good template on my blog. But I changed to use an Editor on my laptop to insert tables and get the photos in a better way to display on the blog. The editor I use is Windows Live Writer. Maybe not the best tool, but it is okay for my needs. Now to the interesting part: How I choose my topic Choosing a topic to write about got more complicated for me within the last four weeks. In the beginn

Fighting panic and taking risks

Taipei night view secrets Visiting Elephant mountain at night is not that special. You get a really sunning view on Taipei at night. And a lot of tourism. In fact it is special but not really nice to go there. To avoid tourism I planned a thrilling small hike using the unlighted paths and experience the vibrant jungle at night. Yes, that’s quite frightening but at some point I got curious. While taking pictures of Taipei at the top of Elephant mountain I saw a sign to Muzhi Mountain. Half an hour, 1.5 kilometers, dark unlit path until another peak. Go for it. Heading upwards to the platform my feelings were thrilling. The darkness got more as closer I got to Mountain Muzhi. The path got smaller and the jungle got louder. I want to give you an impression of my journey: It is dark. You are alone. Separated from others. Nothing to hear, except the whirring insects. Wind blows slightly through the huge bamboo. Somewhere a creaking noise. Suddenly a loud rustling right next to me.

Life-changing times

My experiences Within the last weeks I discovered so many things. I got confronted with situations and problems I never thought about. I got into a complete new culture. A different world. I made the step out of home and my comfort zone. Every day I experienced something new and different. Every day I felt new and unknown feelings. Since 16th September I got to know the Taiwanese kindness, the beautiful nature and the excellent food. I met and talked to so many people from all different nations. I started a job and carry full responsibility for the things I do. I learned how to plan a tour and guide it. I gained skills in writing and made experiences in journalism. Now I know what it means to have a full time job and still do all the things that have to be done in addition. I also experienced getting homesick and being at a low point, completely unhappy and unsatisfied with my situation. But as well, standing up again. Making changes. Getting the situation and my life into th
