soaked hiking - survive in Taiwan - impact of German culture

Tamsui and Shilin night market Tamsui is a historical city near to the coast with a nice harbor. It was very interestimg to visit. I took the ferry across the river and walked around a bit. Unfortunately it was to dark. Otherwise I would have rent a bike, because they have a really old cycling path next to the coast. Back in Tamsui I visited some shops and took back the MRT to Shilin where I visited the largest night market in Taipei. A lot of food and crazy stuff there. I think the pictures describes best: A historical temple in middle of Tamsui, surrounded by high bulidings this Temple is a beautiful place to calm down. The view from Tamsui to Bail. Crazy jewelry. Would never buy that.   In this building I visited a dessert factory. Very delicious A presbyterian church in Tamsui. Berliner Landbrot?? Germany influences Taiwan. Germany influences Taiwan part 2 After the long day  I took a foot massage. Very nice. I slept well. Yangmingshan

Jiaoxi - City experiences - Progresses

Waterfalls and scooters On Wednesday we went to Jiaoxi to explore if the area is nice for the Walkabout tour. As you might remember I went to Jiaoxi a few posts ago (Photos from the beach). Usually only Jesper and I do the Walkabout tour. But this time Allan, a colleague and Falla, a local girl, who knows the place better than we do, joined us. So we started our tour. We all were very curious and amused by a hot spring only for feet. Nothing special until we saw that they put small fish in it. The fish eat the dead skin cells from your legs and feet. First this was really uncomfortable and a little scary. The feeling is very weird and strange. Maybe you can imagine a needle stabbing very slightly on your skin. Thousands of times. A very sparkling feeling. But once you survived the first two minutes you get used to it, watch the fish and relax. Totally worth the experience.   Really strange feeling… but worth it. Jesper and I enjoying fish in a different kind of way.

Visiting Wulai and Pizza

Yesterday I visited Wulai, a beautiful spot in New Taipei city. I went there by bus. In Wulai you can try nice local food, visit waterfalls and take a cable car to a nice park with a few hiking trails and much more. At the end I visited the local hot springs. Best thing you can do after hiking at 29 degrees and over 80% humidity. A beautful landscape in Wulai Yes, you can ride this some kind of rail. It remembered me a bit of a rail in Phantasialand. Be aware of snakes! Didn’t see one. A hotel in Wulai park… Very nice but very expensive as well. Hot spring: relax after hiking I found a Pizza bakery near Ximending… very delicious :)                     That’s it for today. I hope you enjoy my blog :) Next time will be more :P

Elephant mountain, Walkabout tour and travelling

THE view on Taipei!   Elephant mountain… not much to say. This is just awesome! You will find more pictures below! Being a tour guide? Today Jesper (another intern at Topology) and I guided our first tour. We visited Ximending, a vibrant area near to the hostel I live in. To be a tour guide was a very exiting  experience. At first we had some issues because we were not so sure about how to do things right. But as longer we walked and talked we got more confident. The people were very kind and there was a intersting mix of different cultures. Someone from France, Mexico, Japan and Taiwanese joined the tour. We had nice conversations and laughed a lot. In the end this was a desirable tour. I think we could present the places and this area and “character” of the city very well. I really look forward to host other tours and meet more people.  New work I got new tasks at Topology Travel. They offered me one more day to travel around, but I have to write an article once a week. This arti
